Although a little outside of 'proper Vienna' it is well worth the journey to this restaurant. Be prepared to struggle a little as English certainly isn't a strong point, but that's part of traveling! The food was very authentic and delicious and huge portions! (I would recommend splitting a meal). I would definitely recommend !!!
Near our hotel was this dark, long place, furnished like it was the middle ages. Or the middle 1970s, perhaps. Mostly locals were here, in the middle of a touristy part of town. That turned out to be a good sign. Come hungry. Very hungry. All our portions were massive. I ordered the Grandfather's schnitzel and I think Grandfather must have died of a heart attack because it was elephantine. A pork loin split open and filled (ham and some vegetables if I recall), then breaded and fried. Everything was very tasty and inexpensive. I would come back here again. Except for it being 5880 miles away.
