BEST Rueben in Decatur! No kidding! Oh, and they have amazing hot dogs, brats, etc. Everything is top quality here making this the best place for dogs and sandwiches in town! Bar none!

This place is really cool and I wish I could've tried it before covid! The walls are line with cool skateboard decks as art. Currently this place is only doing take out and if they are really busy they will not answer their phone (FYI). I was surprised to see this place pretty packed when I went to pick up some food on a Sunday afternoon. It seemed like only one person was working the front and the kitchen (perhaps another person was behind in the kitchen too?) so he seemed a little overwhelmed. We ordered the el jefe and kielbasa along with the poutine. The el jefe was tasty but I think it was missing the crema and jalapeños on it (maybe they forgot because they seemed busy? I won't hold it against them...) The el jefe was still extremely delicious. The hotdog had a great snap and the bun was toasted on the inside. The kielbasa was very good as well and my boyfriend ordered it so I wasn't sure if it missed anything haha. The poutine was really good! The gravy was packaged in a plastic container so the poutine was not soggy at all when we took it home. The fries weren't sofgy I would definitely try them out again and try a different dog (or pierogies) next time. I would order the poutine again. I wish I visited this place before covid!

First and foremost, kudos goes out to the owner/chef/front of the house! He ran the show all on his own probably due to the shorten hours and staff affected by the Corona Virus Pandemic! **This review is amid CoVid-19 times** All regulations were followed so its safe; so go ahead and support your local business! ;) Anyways, it was amazing to see him check in on us, and then go back to the kitchen to check in on the food. Then take orders by phone, and all the while, he is also serving a family eating in at the bar. He didn't even break a sweat! Many props! WE are not worthy (in my Wayne and Garth voice)! I just wanted to point that out. Anyways, now back to the review! Usually I do not go seeking out hot dog spots because for me it's just hot dogs, right?! I mean can't you just boil some hot dogs or put them on the grill and top them with stuff and call it a day? Let me tell you, mon ami, this is not just a "hot dog spot!" The hot dogs, alone, should have its own story! You can either choose German style frankfurter, all beef dog, or veggie dog; depends on what you're looking for out of this experience. There are also sausages, sandwiches, pierogies, and plenty of other options. This was my first time so I wanted to try as much as I could without breaking the bank. Here is a breakdown of the items we ordered: A) Kraut Pierogies - yummy; everything you think about when it comes to a traditional pierogi. Sauerkraut added with caramelized onions. B) Potato and Cheese Pierogies - yep; exactly what you think. Topped with caramelized onions as well. Pure awesome! C) Farmers Cheese Pierogies - pierogi topped with some honey!? C'mon!!?? Excellent! Two sticky thumbs up! D) P.B.R. Hot Dog (frankfurter) - Pimento Cheese + Bacon Jam + Pickled Red Onions = Heaven! This one blew my mind! The pop of the frankfurter perfectly complimented all 3 ingredients! Each counteracted each other in this weird "party in your mouth...wow, that works" phenomenon! Hard to explain, but it definitely works! E) The "D" Hot Dog (all beef) - the all beef franks blends very well with the chili, onions, and cheese is the closest thing to Detroit's Signature Coney Dogs as it can get here in Georgia. My girlfriend is from Detroit, and she introduced me to the original Coney Dogs. There is a HUGE difference compared to just "chili dogs." You haven't had a chili dog until you've tried a Coney Dog. To truly experience that, The "D" was pretty darn close. F) Bahn Mi Hot Dog (frankfurter) - Now, I was born in Laos, which is a neighboring country of Vietnam, and I've had my share of Bahn Mi. So I can be pretty picky when it comes to this Vietnamese sandwich. However, Dog Towne Franks was able to mimic a Bahn Mi with their version through the vessel of a hot dog. All of the fixings of a Bahn Mi atop a German frankfurter will have you believing you were at a Bahn Mi Shop on Buford Highway. They nailed it with this one! G) Chili Cheese Fries - I live about 3 miles away with about a 15 minute car ride (on a good day). As many of you know, driving with fries and hoping they stay crispy may be quite the wish because usually when you do to-go fries they become soggy once you get home. These were perfect! He placed the cheese on top for the drive and separated the chili for us. Once we got home we slathered those fries with that chili and scarfed it down. These could've have been a meal itself! You have to order these! If you have gotten this far, I want to thank you. Words cannot express how badly I wanted to write about this place! Do go! Quaint and full of California-like Skateboard Culture decor! I can appreciate that type of vibe growing up as a skater, but you have to see the local art on those skateboards as well. Dog Towne Franks has a great vibe! The food will blow your mind! Their knack for combining off the wall flavors will have you wonder, but once you taste it, you will understand why and that it really works! Their food is top-notch. Each item we ordered had that "savoir faire" essence to it as if it were each a Louis Vuitton luggage piece beautifully constructed together; lovely to admire with your eyes first before it disappears into your belly. I hope you get the same experience as I did because as cliched as it sounds "you have to try this place!"
