I am a big fan of gatos, watching people attempt to beat Bobby Flay, and Mediterranean food. Last night I had a special occasion to celebrate, I decided to incorporate all those things into my night and destination for the joyous night. I started my meal with a selection of three small tapas for $21 - pepper stuffed with raw tuna, seared yellowtail, and lamb tenderloin. The waiter warned me that the combination of these three items would be comparable to one appetizer, but I think he was being quite generous with that comparison. We are talking two bites per each item! Now I do understand paying a high price tag for food worthy of the markup, but I was left disappointed by each of my selections. The tenderloin came out cold, the yellowtail was unpleasantly fishy, and the stuffed pepper was bland. As for the entrée, more disappointment followed. Porterhouse pork chop came out pretty dry and was slathered in what looked and tasted like tomato paste straight out of a can. Bobby, I make a better chop at home, based on a recipe by the one and only Gordon Ramsay, and I can safely say that it would beat yours for half the price. The sad tiny side of polenta was less of a side and more of a sauce smeared around the plate in a thin layer. Swanky modern industrial vibe and friendly waiters and bartenders help, but not enough to flip the tables on the overall experience. Unfortunately, my Gato visit is of the one and done variety. Shame shame shame.
We were suppose to celebrate a birthday dinner but were cutting it close with making our show to see moulin Rouge so Bc we had to cancel but came this morning for brunch.  I wish I can give it more than 5 stars.   We went at 11 and were the first to arrive.    We started off with the corn muffin that came with a side of ricotta almonds and honey and jam.     The corn muffin had a different spin to it. We enjoyed everything that the corn muffin had to offer we just wished it was a little bit bigger to share between two people.  For lunch I ordered the burger that I can't say enough about. It's not hard to make a burger but in most places they fail but not here. It was absolutely delicious with the cheese, arugula, and sauce. It was cooked to perfection. The burger also came with these outstanding potato wedges that were dressed with an amazing topping.  We also ordered chard beef that came with eggs and garlic bread that was also enjoyed at the table but I think the burger was the winner for today. We were celebrating a birthday and ordered the espresso bread pudding that was a nice way to end a very for filling meal. For drinks I ordered the blood orange Mamosa that really hit the spot first thing in the morning.  You must go!!!! I made sure to knock on the window and give both chefs a thumbs up and a thank you for the delicious meal.   Well done.  Looking forward to returning for dinner! Also service was excellent!  Wish I knew her name!
Gato is slightly above average due to the quality of service and the ambiance of the location (casual and large and still cozy). The food is not objectionable yet leaves something to be desired. The prawns were fishy and overcooked, the octopus was good but not memorable at all. The steak was lean (NY strip, which the menu doesn't mention) and the blue cheese mentioned in the description was merely a tiny crumb on each pre-sliced piece of meat. Overall, nothing warranted being sent back to the kitchen but nothing jumped out either.
