If you want food poisoning then this is the place to come!! Jay the owner is a real scumbag who when confronted about it would rather call you names, so beware of this place.
4.5 stars! Jay's Sandbar Floating BBQ is a dining experiencing unique to Fort Lauderdale's boating culture. If you are familiar with boating in ftl, you know the sandbar is the place to be on a sunny weekend. Jay's is a floating bbq stand that sets up shop in the middle of the sandbar where you call the number advertised on the boat and they bring you a menu to take take your order. Jay's doesn't just offer your average BBQ, their menu includes oyster baskets, gyros, gator bites, cheese fries, vegan options and much more! This weekend we ordered their jumbo Buffalo wings and a side of fries. We received the jumbo wings and they lived up to their "jumbo" name. Unfortunately the fries were forgotten at first but we let them know and the tender quickly came back with our order of fries. Other than that, the fries were crispy and delicious! Highly recommend ordering Jays to satisfy your hunger at the sandbar!
Jay's Sandbar Floating BBQ offers the most unique foodie experience in Fort Lauderdale. It's the only totally floating restaurant around. And by floating, I do mean being totally afloat. There is no dock or gangway to it. The only way is by boat, innertube like device or swimming. It anchors off the New River/Intracoastal Sandbar, for which there is also a web site: yelp.com/biz/new-river-i… , servicing the fun-loving boaters and swimmers of that sandbar. Now if you don't know this sandbar, you're really missing out. The ocean and ocean beaches are nice, but not near the fun of the sandbar. As Jay's Sandbar Floating BBQ is little more than a 32-foot self-built shack out in the water, with no phone, actual street address or web site. I came as close as I could, but to find it look at my GPS pics, and be sure to be on a boat. The favorites of their menu are gator bites and nachos thingies and calamari.
