Wow! Better than any mexican I've had in the ten years I've lived in New York. Everything we ordered had such great flavor!

So my brudder is in town from Seattle so we made plans with my sista (Plan A) and her 2 boys to meet for lunch at Cooper Hawk in Arlington Heights. That didn't work due to time constraints. So me and da bro went to Plan B, Johnnies Beef in Elmwood Park since his friend has been telling him they have the best Beef in da Chicagoland area (subjective). They are good, but the best? So we drove all the way to Elmwood Park from my house in da Jefferson Park only to find that they were closed for Memorial Day (my bad I should have known better). So now what? We were looking for somewhere ta eat. Hence La Parrillita Mexican Grill a Restaurant I bookmarked it, but never went there. Why would you when Johnnies Beef is just a 1/2 mile down North Ave just west of Harlem in Elmwood Park. Anywho the time was NOW. Parrillita Mexican Grill is a tiny little building west of the Shell Gas Station on the SE Corner of Harlem & North Avenues. The inside of Parrillita is reminiscent of a 50's diner w/the black and white counter and red bar stools where you sit at the counter and watch as the cook prepares your food. I ordered 3 tacos, 1 steak, 1, chorizo and & one fried fish taco. The tacos are served w/very generous portions & are very reasonably priced. The steak taco was good w/lean steak meat, but lacked flavor. The fish taco was excellent w/onions, cilantro & tomatoes. My bro ordered 2 chicken and 2 carnitas. I didn't try the carnitas, but the chicken was seasoned very good and was moist not dry like some other chicken tacos I had. Their burritos were ginormous as I watched the cook prepare them I wished I had gotten one instead. They were easily enough for 2 people. Jackie was the consummate host, greeting us, taking our orders, serving us while taking orders from all the new comers and serving them all the while keeping the flow going. Good food, inexpensive prices and excellent service
