Beat hoagie in Florida! Their meatball sub is so good, my Italian father regularly requests extra sauce. Great chicken salad as well. Also, the portions are ginormous. Finally tried out Laspada's Original Hoagies on a Saturday afternoon. Ordered a Small Monster with all the toppings. Quality Laspada's is a place that I have been hearing about since I first made my way down to South Florida. So my first visit was long overdue. As I had been instructed to, I went with a Small Monster. It comes with ham, turkey, and their incredible roast beef, along with a choice of cheese, I went with provolone. I then got it loaded up with lettuce, onions, sweet peppers, hot peppers, pickles, tomatoes, salt, pepper, oregano, mayo, oil, and vinegar. Once they hand it over, it is now on you to figure out how to fit it in your mouth. This massive sandwich is extremely good, and it is largely because of how fresh it is. The toppings are pristine, and I love that crisp crunch with fresh vegetables. But the true star is the roast beef, which may be the best I have ever had. This was not the blob of brown meat I'm used to, instead it is this pink tender slice of heaven. Everything works and that is beautiful. Quantity I went with a small, which is anything but small. This 8 inch sandwich was tough for me to finish and I was very hungry coming in. Value At first $8.50 for a small seemed like a lot, but by the last few bites I completely understood. With a good amount of meat and cheese, along with a massive heaping of toppings, this is a high qualify meal that will fill you up for under $10. Ambiance Laspada's has several locations across Broward, but I checked into the one in Davie. It is found in a long strip mall, and they use the covered walkway as a patio for a few outdoor seats. Inside it is very simple. They have the sandwich line along the right wall and then the dining area on the left. All the ingredients are out so you can see what you are working with and they slice up the meat as you order. They also have a massive collection of chips, with flavors I have never seen before. The dining area to the left is a little chaotic. Tables were arranged in every which way as customers moved them to fit their parties. It was also quite messy likely because of the constant flow in and out of the restaurant. They had a television on the wall, but it looked close to death. The radio was on in the background, but with all the noise from the crowd, it was tough to hear. Crowd I came at an odd time between lunch and dinner, but the place was still packed. There was constantly a line, which is very impressive considering how quickly they prep the sandwiches. It is a casual crowd and one with lots of families. They also offer absurdly large hoagies, so I assume they are a hit when catering too. I would just be careful stopping in on gameday or weekday lunch, because the line may be out the door. Service Simply great. Everyone was friendly, quick, and funny. Behind the counter the staff were telling jokes and interacting with the customers. I also love how they toss the meat onto the sandwiches, food and a show. Parking This location is found within a long strip mall. They have plenty of spaces, but the stretched out approach may mean a short walk from your car. Extra While I'm not ready to crown Laspada's the best sandwich place around, it deserves to be in the conversation. The roast beef alone is a game changer. With solid food at good prices, this is somewhere you can trust for a tasty lunch.
