Food was delicious. Everything made to perfection. Wait staff very attentive and polite. Atmosphere was great. Wasn't too busy. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $30–50 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Cowboy Ribeye Dinner, Potato, Parmesan Crusted Chicken

Let me start by mentioning that Longhorn Steakhouse is my hands down FAVORITE of the chain steakhouses. I can get a consistently great steak regardless of what location or state I am in. This is why its a bit painful to share a recent experience in the Mathews, NC location. I am sure it was a bad night on their part overall, but so many things were not right here. I usually leave service out of a restaurant review unless....Waiter (Jacob) was slow come come by and even slower in between water/bread totaling around 20 mins before we were able to put our dinner order in. We sat patiently for our food to come out and 30 mins later, Jacob graced us with a visit to the table to let us know our food was almost there, but they were out of Potatoes and needed to switch one of us to mashed. He assured us it would be right out...so of course 15 mins later the steaks arrived minus the one with the potato. We asked for Boxes to come out with the last dish which the manager sauntered over with a few mins later. Jacob was nowhere to be seen at this point! We gave our feedback to the manager as my patience had finally run out and I asked for the check. While waiting I tentatively cut into my steak to find it was not as consistent as I would have liked, a bit over cooked with no seasoning and some really soggy Broccoli. My Dad's Medium Rare was Medium Well and none of us had time to even eat as the allotted 2 hours before needing to pick up my daughter from practice had run out from all of the delays. The Manager came with the check and let us know she had taken 50% off the bill as my Mother made sure to let her know we should not be paying anything, alas, Ms. Grumpy Manager had no words for that and walked away. I payed my bill using the web pay and we left with our boxed up late food. In the parking lot as I put my dad's walker in the back along came Jacob finally to ask if I had forgotten anything. My anger overflowed at this point as I let him know the bill was payed online and my wife helped me from marching back into the restaurant after him to speak more to the apathetic manager who needed to worry more about how many other potatoes needed to be microwaved. Good she held me back as we were the last ones to pick up my daughter.... This is my experience, but Longhorn is no longer my go go Chain steakhouse, all due to one experience!!
