I felt discrimination against Asians. The inside of the store was divided into an entrance floor and a floor below where you could see the sea, but even though there was space on the lower floor, Asians were sent to the entrance floor and Westerners were sent to the lower floor. Ta. According to the waiter, the floor was divided into four areas and customers were assigned in order, but this was not explained. In fact, three couples came in after us, the first two were European and American and were taken downstairs, and the last was Asian and was seated at a table on the floor next to us at the entrance. It was passed. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner

I went to Playa del Carmen a few months back with a few friends and this restaurant was a part of the meal package at my hotel. Maria Marie is a French-Mexican fusion restaurant. Now you may be thinking to yourself... what do they even serve there? Do they make enchiladas using crepes or escargot tacos?! Well if you keep an open mind, you will be presently surprised at their offerings. We have some serious foodies in our group so we decided to order the grasshoppers for an appetizer. I know that's not every exotic, but it was delicious nonetheless! An even better surprise was duck paired with mole. The duck breast was perfectly cooked to a medium and the mole was spiced to perfection. Truly savory with a little bit of heat with an underlying note of sweetness. The staff is very friendly. They greet you at the door with a smile! For the wine lovers, they have a resident sommelier that will help you pick the best wine for your meal. He will ask you a few questions to get an idea of your palate then present you a wine as well has give you its origin story. This was the best restaurant during our stay and my group of friends still talk about it to this day. Highly recommended!
