Mortensaft we usually go out and eat duck and what goes with it. This year we chose Meyers Spisehus. We really regretted that. The starter was a semi-cold "Lobster bisque" with some indeterminate pieces of fish and an overpowering taste of salt - so salty that we had to live. By the way, the appetizer was served long before we got our drinks. We asked if there was no bread, because the young server had forgotten it. It was then served with a small dollop of very soft butter. Then came the main course. A few cuts of a duck – not very delicious in taste – half cold with a thin brown gravy, some battered red cabbage and then some small potatoes that I've never had in my life before. They were made from a kind of mashed potatoes – the "white" ones were more yellow than white and the "brown" ones were in a thick soft shell of fat and caramel. And like all other food that night they were lukewarm / cold. We had also ordered a bottle of Meyer's red wine. It was good, even it was so cold that the taste disappeared at first - price DKK 450 so a nice margin for Meyers Spisehus, which is served by very young people who just put the food on the table without presenting it. Finally, we got slices of some cooked plums that had been turned in a boring thick whipped cream with some crushed macaroons on top. We are very surprised that Claus Meyer would be known to put his name to such a batch of lousy cafeteria food on a Mortensaften night.
