I’d been meaning to visit this place for eons and hadn’t had the chance. In my mind it has a similar look and feel to the Palazzo at Monte Casino. Anyway I went on what happened to be a Wednesday night after dinner at a different place thinking I’d pop in for some dessert before going home. Well little did I know that since the place is frequented by (distributors of sexual services) and since I was scantily clad like one heading towards 9pm I was told I could NOT go in at the door Rights of admission reserved guys so make sure you have a four fingers above the knee skirt/dress and carry a clutch so they don’t mistake your everyday bag for an oversized I’m a woman on the hunt bag. I was let in after I explained why I was there but decided on using the loo (since I had to powder my nose). I spoke to the manager who said he’d be happy for me to sit in and have dessert and that they had such rules enforced at the door by security since they’d had problems before. With all the mess, seemed more like a gentleman’s club than a fine dining restaurant to me. I opted for home, and had to get myself a McFlurry instead of the delectable creme brûlée I was hoping for!

I associate Piccolo Mondo with high tea. Although the restaurant is amazing. I have dined here a few times over the years was never once disappointed. It’s sophisticated and classy. The food is great. It’s in the heart of Sandton. Location is perfect. Wanting a guaranteed great experience it’s time to enjoy this beautiful restaurant. Actually recently it was also featured on the Bachelor SA.
