Apparently they're closed? This makes me sad. I had a lovely lunch at Radiance back in May 2020 - from the clay pot to the vegetable stir-fry, it was a treat. Prices were surprisingly high (especially for back then), but the quality was also just as high. Radiance's dining room was a chill space for a meal or tea tasting, but not one where I'd bring a laptop into. There wasn't a lot of natural lighting in the space. Friendly service, and they took credit cards.

I was poisoned: (Obviously Zero stars would be more appropriate). Last week I was in town staying at the WestHouse just down the street. Because of its proximity, I'd passed this place a few times. As a huge tea lover, I made it a point to stop in on Tuesday, the 11th of December before heading home on the 13th. Since the name of this place is Radiance Tea House & Books, I thought for sure I'd be in a tea haven. My husband and I go in and while I was not impressed at all by the ambiance, I still wanted to give it a shot. As we are seated, I notice there are plates on the tables and realized it was a full blown restaurant. I immediately notify the girl who sat us that we are not eating and only there for tea (we had dinner reservations in a few hours). From that point on, everything goes downhill really quickly. The waitress looked at me and then rolled her eyes as if she was annoyed by us not eating dinner (perhaps because the check would be small and so would her tip). She then ignored my husband and I for at least 15 minutes. I had to wave her down despite her not being busy but instead in conversation with another waitress. I ordered for a hot Chai Latte and my husband, an Earl Grey. She looked at me as though I were an idiot and said we can't do a hot chai, only cold. I was terribly confused at this point. I asked if she would just ask the kitchen if it were possible. She returned with a smirk on her face informing me they could do it. I thought for sure things were definitely turning around and I'd have an enjoyable visit. After about 10 mins, she brings our tea over. My Chai was in a tea pot already mixed with milk (or something). Out of my peripheral I could see both waitresses and the lady behind the counter staring at me as I took the first sip. They all started snickering with one covering her mouth just as I took a full glance over at them. The tea tasted a bit weird but not horrible, so I continued drinking it (hindsight's always 20/20). Over the next 20 minutes I drink about half the pot and then asked for some sweetener thinking that it would liven it up or something. The lady behind the counter in the kitchen area poured what I assumed was simple syrup into a mini container. The waitresses still think something is very funny. She brings me the sweetener and as I'm mixing it in with my tea, I notice once again, they are all staring at me again waiting for me too drink my tea. As I drink, again they start snickering and the one covering her mouth. I know, at this point I should've figured something was awfully wrong. I was in the middle of conversation with my husband trying to have an enjoyable moment and trying to ignore the bad vibes. Unfortunately, I finished the pot of tea. We pay the check and leave. We walked back to our hotel. We eventually started to get ready for dinner a couple hours later. That's when I notice my stomach was starting to feel upset and overly full. I got to dinner and could barely eat. I wasted most of my food because it felt as if I couldn't digest anything else; like the food was just stuck and sitting there. I was uncomfortable all night long. The next morning, I didn't want breakfast because I still felt full and very uncomfortable. This went on the entire day. The next morning, Thursday, I was preparing to head to the airport. I threw up everything from the day before. I had a 5.5 hour miserable flight back west. When I finally got home, I literally fell so ill, that I almost called 911. I had diarrhea for the next 48 hours. It's now clear that I was more than likely served rotten milk (I hope and not a chemical) that was disguised by the strong Chai spices and flavors. I am almost 100% certain that I was given bad milk (or whatever it was) intentionally. It certainly explains why they'd be staring at me waiting for a reaction. I am currently still recovering a week later because my immune system was so severely compromised, it left me susceptible to other illnesses going around.
