This was our first time dining at stoneyridge for lunch and we were very excited. The lawns were beautiful, and given it was a sunny day the atmosphere was fabulous on Waiheke. The bottle of wine we ordered was really nice and the food was outstanding. We actually ordered most of the entrees to share as they stood out to us, and we weren’t disappointed. The veal, ceviche and octopus were exceptional. The reason I have rated our experience as 2 star is because there were flies all around the dining area. We thought initially this was just restricted to our table (maybe because of the fresh seafood), but looking around flies were everywhere. We couldn’t enjoy our meals because we were having to use one hand each to constantly swat them away! If we weren’t continuously doing this the flies would settle on our food. I really wish the venue had installed some sort of measure to mitigate this. Once we had finished our meals the plates took a long time to be cleared, increasing the amount of flies coming to the table and increasing our frustration. We were very keen to have dessert but decided not to continue dining at Stoneyridge given the above! It’s a real shame because we would have otherwise loved our experience.

What a disappointment! First, there were not many things to eat, and the few things we had were too unpalatable to eat. Second, the open-air seats face a large barren mountain with no view. The service is poor again. The only advantage is that it can be reached directly by bus instead of taking a taxi. It is completely different from other wineries like the Tantalus Estate winery next to it!

A group of us visited Waiheke Island with the aim of exploring multiple vineyards. We planned to begin at the center and make our way through two other vineyards, ending our journey at the dock. Our adventure started at Stonyridge Vineyard, where we ultimately stayed. The wine, company, and atmosphere were in perfect harmony. We'll definitely return.
