We went here for my Mom's birthday dinner in March 2024. We arrived to a card on the table signed by all the staff, an amazing touch. Jess was our waitress and BEYOND phenomenal! We had an incredible celebration of an evening. Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $50–100 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Grilled Octopus

The River and Rail Restaurant is tucked into a quiet South Roanoke neighborhood, featuring some magnificent homes from the early years of Roanoke's arrival as a booming "railroad town." This "vibe" immediately sets the stage for a relaxed evening of good food and an attentive staff. The chef and his staff give as much attention to the presentation of their food as they devote to the perfect pairing of flavors and spices with the locally sourced ingredients. This is our fourth trip to River and Rail, and we have yet to find anything menu that we would not highly recommend. Although Roanoke's downtown area contains a diverse and robust number of restaurants, River and Rail is a culinary gem tucked only a few minutes away from the hustle and bustle ambiance of downtown. Bravo to the R and R crew. Rest assured we will be looking forward to our next visit!
