TL;DR delicious homemade food with great service.After our walking tour we were both looking to eat a specialty from the region called “doube” which is basically a stew usually served with gnocchi or ravioli. We were advised another restaurant but were were sort of intimidated by it which led us to quickly search a different option until we found “A Buteghinna”. This restaurant is in a little corner of the old city and offers a small space outside for the meal. It was nice a cozy as it had the heater outside. We were served by two adorable waiters (I wonder if they’re the owners?). We were a bit embarrassed because we had no cash but they abused us to enjoy the meal first and then go grab the money. They spoke french but also English.We requested la doube est ses gnocchi which was served with Parmesan on top. The meat was deliciously tender and the sauce was very flavourful and deep. The gnocchi seemed homemade and were deliciously soft and with a soft taste that complemented the dish perfectly. We accompanied the meal with some wine tailored to our tastes that was also very good.We ordered dessert which is a rare occurrence as I tend to hate most desserts the restaurants offer but we were definitely not disappointed. The tarte “tatin” was very worth the money with tender apples full of flavour, accompanied with caramel sauce and chantilly. It tasted homemade and delicious. Everything and everyone was really nice and if I could I’d definitely come back to taste any other traditional dishes.
