I ate here August 2023 Since my trip to Japan, I have been in Cologne looking for the perfect Katsudon, which I also ordered here. Unfortunately, the egg on top was completely cooked through and everything was very dry And the rice tasted like brown rice, which has a very strong taste of its own and was completely different from the sticky, white rice we know from Japan. This just totally ruined the taste for me. The meat wasn't the tastiest either and was very tough. I also ordered a cocktail and I think they put something other than pure liquor in it just for the color. With every sip I felt like I wouldn't be able to walk home again today. So she meant very well for us. After the request to make the cocktail a little weaker, it was changed minimally. I didn't dare ask again :( unfortunately I had to leave it alone However, the ambience of the store is really good and the service itself is really nice. Akira is a tiny restaurant with high-seat tables available for about 16-18 guests at a time. But Omg is it delicious here! Just steps away from Friesenplatz, on the corner of Hildebald Platz & Klapperhof. Only inside seating is available. The menu is extensive, especially for such a small place, ranging from cold & hot appetizers, plenty of fresh sushi choices, a full page of Ramen & udon soup options... We tried two hot appetizers (hot kimchi with fried tofu & the prawn tempura). Both were amazingly delicious. For main course we tried the udon soup with beef (so many tender and delicious slices!) & one Ramen soup with veggies and gyoza. Both were the best tasting noodle soups we had in a really long time.
