Unfortunately I feel like I need to leave this review on here despite me and the Mrs enjoying the food and experience a year ago. Last night we had the misfortune of experiencing quite possibly the worst food served to me in a restaurant ever, over the span of 40 years. When we were asked was the food ok I felt like I couldn't give you my honest feedback and relay the level of disappointment, I didn't want to be that negative infront of my family and dampen the mood completely. We just wanted to get out and forget it happened... You have insited on feedback and asked what was wrong with the food. So as a trained chef, let me explain exactly why I am being so seemingly harsh. Let's start with the fact we pre ordered the entire meal almost 2 weeks in advance, you knew what we wanted for our starter and main course. It took 25 minutes to get us drinks AND an hour and 5 minutes to get the starter. 65 MINUTES TO GET THE PREORDERED STARTER in a restaurant that isn't even half filled. (We were there from 3:30pm) AND a whooping 90 MINUTES to get the worst roast dinner I have ever tried to eat and keep a straight face while doing it. Starters- Vegetable soup served with freshly baked focaccia bread : No seasoning, broth lacked any flavour. Vegetables and barley were cooked through but carrots were hard. Clear sign of throwing the soup together in haste and not even checking is it ready for human consumption. Served with a slice of stale bread that resembled Tesco value bread and rock hard frozen butter. No focaccia. Seriously?! You couldn't even put in the minimum effort and lightly TOAST the bread to revive it a bit? Bohemian chicken strips with Korean BBQ glaze : that was the one component I thought was actually good. Chicken wasn't dry and sauce was nice. Main course (When we actually got it)I should have mentioned we had the table booked for 2 hours and obviously we spent 90 MINUTES WAITING!!!! Turkey and Ham (Traditional festive turkey & ham ballotine, sage & cranberry stuffing - turkey bone jus & all the trimmings) Where do we start with this road kill disaster... I had nicer meals in the Naval training centre when they needed to get rid of 20 year old MRE's. Turkey & Ham ballotine : was not a Turkey & Ham ballotine. It was a badly made turkey roulade and a quarter slice of thick boiled ham underneath it. The turkey looked boiled not roasted, colour of a sheet of paper. No seasoning which was so necessary to hide the real crime of this component... The sage and cranberry stuffing.. what in the name of everything unholy were you thinking putting that slop on the plate. Sage and cranberry??? The stuffing was white, it looked like and was the consistency of thin porridge. The taste was horribly bitter and unfortunately resembling a traumatizing event from my child hood when a seagull pooped all over my face and some of it got into my mouth. Oh the horror... The gagging... That's exactly what your "stuffing" tasted like, like child trauma. Not much to say about the ham as it was the cheapest shop bought stuff with no flavour. (Funny enough the only thing you were consistent on is the lack of flavour) Turkey bone jus : Where was that cause we got served brown water with cornstarch.. 0 flavour, 0 seasoning, the colour was ok but that's about it. All the trimmings : well our trimmings must have gotten lost. It was the trimmings that Ebenezer Scrooge would have offered you and consisted of: - 3 undercooked Brussels sprouts, no they were not aldente. Dark and dried out from the top and hard in the middle. - 3 cubes of carrot 1cm by 1 cm approx. One of them half rotten (I appreciate putting rotten veg on the plate nice touch there chef). I suppose I'm lucky because my wife didnt even get the half rotten carrot. - 2 Half's of a roast potato. Now this is special, I know how much Northern Irish people love their potatoes and I agree long live the spud! So what on earth has possessed you to serve potatoes I wouldn't feed a goat with.. how can you completely miss the target on a roast potato. I'm sure those roasties were crispy at some stage. They tasted like and were the consistency of roast potatoes that are at least 2 days old and were left in the fridge. They tasted and smelled like the recycle bin. There was NO CONSISTENCY in any portion sizes and missing components. The cheek to walk up to the table and ask was everything alright.... If anyone would have tasted this culinary crime before, you would have known. No everything is not alright in fact this vomit inducing concoction should have never been served to a human being.. Cherry on the top, the price of £30 per person which was just a cruel joke at that stage. It is beyond me how anyone could run a service that badly and serve utter disgusting slop to people and then turn around to charge that money with a smile on their face... Needless to say we didn't stay for desert to avoid further disappointment. Extremely disappointed.

We had such a lovely evening. We didn’t know about it but came across it during the day so went in to book a table for the evening. The nice man warned us we may have a bit of a wait but to come back at 9pm which we did. But we were seated quickly and then served by several lovely waiters/waitress, the food was hot and delicious and arrived quickly. The place itself is gorgeous and I would definitely return next time I’m in Belfast. Thanks am:pm for a great night!
