We had been looking forward to trying this restaurant for quite a while, which made the experience even more disappointing. Having lived in Texas, I've had everything from authentic Mexican food to great Tex-Mex, so I'm not expecting every restaurant to be identical. I do, however, expect food to be flavorful, fresh, and representative of what is advertised. Unfortunately, that wasn't our experience. Starting with the beginning. The corn tortilla with beans were served cold and lacked flavor. The refried beans tasted canned and the tortillas tasted store bought. And there were no chips and salsa as one would expect. I got the rice bowl. The steak was more reminiscent of Chipotle-style steak than traditional carne asada. The rice was wet and bland, the beans were plain, and the plate consisted mostly of lettuce with very few fresh toppings. While it included guacamole and sour cream, there was no pico de gallo or salsa to bring any freshness or balance to the dish. We left without being able to eat dinner it was so bad. Another disappointment was the value. For the price, I expected much better ingredients, seasoning, and execution. Sadly, this was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I've had in a long time. We were excited to try this place and left wishing we had gone somewhere else. We love this hidden gem! The trio fajitas are outstanding. They make a an amazing mojito with fresh mint picked from their mint garden. The service is always super friendly and accommodating. The food was absolutely phenomenal. Noting was over salted and nothing tasted like it came from a can. If the server was more attentive I'd have had a better time. That is my only complaint. Instead of roving the floor with only 2 tables filled, they sat at the kitchen door scrolling on their phone. My water cup sat empty for several minutes and at the end of the meal when I wanted to order a coffee, the server was nowhere to be seen for 15 minutes till my wife finally called out for her. The most I should have to do for service at a restaurant is raise my hand to get your attention, not call out towards the kitchen so you set down your phone Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 5
