Several years ago, in my local paper (Lynn Item) there was an advertisement for Alia Ristorante in Winthrop. My family decided to check it out due to the BYOB policy. It should be noted there is not a cork fee. We immediately fell in love with the restaurants rustic charm, outstanding service, and incredible Italian food. In my families opinion, this restaurant is the gold standard of Italian food on the North Shore. Since then, this restaurant has become ourgo to in terms of celebrating birthdays, special occasions, and even a few New Year's Eve's. The food is so good my sister had requested it for her baby shower, rehearsal dinner and it's where my family ate after I graduated from college. If you are looking for authentic Italian home cooking with exceptional service Alia is the place to go. The owner, Siad treats you more like a guest in his own home rather than a customer. He will make you anything you want. I cannot stress enough how the tortellini soup and pesto raviolis (not on the menu) are a must for appetizers. In fact, we have ordered both for our own Christmas dinner. The waitress, Loubna, is attentive, genuine, and accommodating. The only thing better than the food is the service and hospitality she provides. My family has been so often than she has committed our order to memory. Highlights include chicken/eggplant parm, seafood special, chicken Alia and the tiramisu. If you are a fan of great food, great service, and a memorable non-rushed experience do yourself a favor and go to Alia. If your experience is anything like my family has consistently had, you will be talking about the food on the ride home.
