Stopped in with friends on New Years Eve and have never been made to feel so welcome anywhere. When we first got here, we thought we’d interrupted a private party, as everyone in the pub (which was near full) seemed to know each other! After chatting to some of the very friendly locals, we quickly got the impression that The Angel Inn is at the heart of the community. The night we visited, they were holding a fundraiser for the village hall, so they'd put on a raffle - we bought a tenner’s worth of tickets between our group and when we didn't come up lucky, the landlady Debs told us that one of her tickets had come up and for us to pick ourselves a gift instead, which I just thought was a really sweet and lovely gesture. There was a delicious curry and chilli (which my boyfriend practically couldn’t get enough of) put out for everyone at the event. The atmosphere in here was brilliant all night, full of warmth and laughter from everyone, especially the pub’s lovely landlady. Before we left, they even let one of our group lead a singalong to a bit of Robbie Williams, which was a great end to the evening. I cant talk enough about what a good time we had here - gutted we didn’t have chance to go back before we came home but if we ever find ourselves in the area again, we’ll be back. If you’re ever in the area yourself, make sure you stop in at The Angel Inn - warm, friendly and very traditional, it’s everything your classic village pub should be. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
