The rude service didn't help. We speak some French, but understand spoken & written word. W/ a reservation we were shown to a table w/view of parking lot/alley & politely asked for different table. There were many tables open w/sea views but told these were taken. We heard walk-ins being shown to those same tables afterward. We were seated in a corner by the cutlery & glassware station (the restaurant was not full inside-but were still shoved here as if it were) It was an oven the entire time. (temps at sunset were 26/27c)
I was looking at wine carte-when it was ripped out of my hand & delivered to another table (!). No word-just grabbed! We did note they had ONE wine carte. We should've gotten up at this point. There was one lovely server who spoke w/us about the menu & was impetus to stay & try to think if we had not been polite by asking for another table.
The food was sub par at best. We are seasoned travelers w/appreciation for food variety & levels from street vendors, cafe/brasseries to Michelin gastronomic. This was the worst meal we've had in our 3 weeks traveling through France this year (and the countless prior ones). We're sensitive to respecting cultural norms & that we're guests in France. We waited while ALL tables were serviced w/appertif/dinner orders, served their drinks & had to flag down for our drink order. The meal proceeded in same manner. My husband's lamb was cooked correctly, at medium rare, but again, poorly executed w/winter braising in the middle of July) Very obvious we were not welcome & this was hurtful. This is the first poor review I've ever written. Skip au chantier.
