The only izakaya that I'll ever go to. It's in BASEment (get it?) so the venue is pretty sick. Yuta and I made friends immediately despite my horrendously terrible japanese; he's that likeable. Food is so kyoto, they serve sashimi as well as other foods like spaghetti and pizza. Plenty to drink, wine, beer, liquor you name it. 100% locals vibe, don't expect an English menu. You'll feel like an outsider if you don't make the effort to speak the language, but if you show them respect by learning some japanese and trying your best, they'll make you feel at home. This is "BASE358". I visited around 13:00. At lunchtime, the restaurant was very popular and there was no line, but the restaurant was full. I was alone, so I was able to sit at the counter after waiting for 1-2 minutes. I was worried because there were many attractive menus, but I ordered the demon shrimp fried set meal ¥ 1000. Cooking was completed in about 5 to 6 minutes. I felt that the fried shrimp was a little thin, but there were 10 shrimp in total, and it came with 2 kinds of sauce, so I was satisfied.
