We are Milanese who ended up in Lugano and it was well past lunch time when we exhausted the commitment we had: where to have lunch? I don't know what indication, perhaps a review intercepted by my husband, leads us to the La Vela snackbar, on the lakeside, near the famous Bucherer shop. Seen from the outside, this bar is not given any importance: the place is not flashy, it does not show off, but the outdoor area is clean, covered and not suffocating. The interior is small and modest, but okay. A lot of people! And here one asks oneself questions: either there are many offices nearby, or the snacks and dishes offered are inviting? Both things are true, we understood everything then... on the third visit in a month and a half, we intercepted regulars rather than tourists and nice/good dishes on offer! The law says: where do the locals eat? Not in tourist places... And here it's true! The only foreigners were us. For a sandwich and a drink or a dish, we highly recommend this place and also the "Mike sandwich", consisting of dried meat (local bresaola from Ticino or Grisons), pickled cucumbers, tartar sauce and tomato slices. Excellent, warm and crunchy. The pleasure of this very pleasant and tasty "dried meat" led us to look for it at a delicatessen and, at Gabbani's, also in the centre, we found an excellent assortment of local cured meats and preserved meats! In Swiss francs: sandwich 8.50 francs, various types of dishes up to 18 francs...dried meat from Gabbani very... salty!! But excellent. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 3
