I hate doing reviews like this… such a shame as I think Base has potential. Made a mistake in asking for softer seating since the restaurant was very quiet, sadly we were sat next to window riddled with huge flys on one side and on the other side floor with food leftovers with a dirty napkin that had been ignored by staff. The seating was also torn, dirty and in need of immediate repair! This premises were overall filthy and not somewhere we would want to visit again if they can’t even do basic cleaning. Thankfully no need to visit the bathroom but I wouldn’t have much hope after sitting there. Now the food is why this isn’t a clean sweep of 1 stars…; it was okay. Not far off being fairly decent and some of the food was better than the other dishes. The Spag/meatball which out little girl had was fairly decent. Something I would maybe eat; even though it did really lack a depth of flavour it was pretty hearty and worth trying again. Mixed feeling on the Mac & cheese! Partner liked it, I didn’t think the sauce was thick enough and definitely not as flavourful as the Mac at Agenda along the road. Chips were good though. I liked them. Nice and fluffy. Again nachos were okay, nice portion but needing something, even a little jalapeño would have been welcome! Now apart from fighting flies and watching where I was putting my feet the service at the start was good. Young woman was pleasant but in the second half they just looked bored and stayed in the bar while there was another man working who looked very, very tired and had been wrestling with a dog before his shift; his T-shirt was in need of a lint roller! Get some rest! Our finished plates also sat there for over minutes with a window full of flies… not cool. Now it wasn’t that the place was busy. It wasn’t that the staff were busy either. They did clock us multiple times sitting waiting to order dessert, but they just didn’t look interested. We skipped dessert for this very reason due to the staff being disinterested in us being there… Overall sad. Wee one happy enough but I wouldn’t rush back! Poor hygiene and a filthy establishment is not good, expected a lot better here. Think the owner needs to dig deep in to the pockets and fix the seating and staff need trained on how to clean up after customers leave and to be attentive when people are waiting… take our money please so we can go… we had to actually get up to pay as nobody came to take our payment. Not sure if this is how it works here but there no obvious sign saying pay at the till. Do better. Much better. Worst meal out in the area so far. Food: 2 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

Fabulous as always. Steak pie was delicious and the chicken wrap was perfect. Great local restaurant. Staff really nice. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Lunch
