We stayed one night for our anniversary. I'd say it was worth it for a special occasion, but in general I think it's overpriced. You're definitely paying for staying in a historic building and that's about it. It is a very nice property but I felt the service quality and amenities were lacking for the price we paid. We just a got regular room so maybe you get pampered more if you get one of the fancier rooms? They did leave us sparkling wine and a note since they knew it was our anniversary, but I got the impression they leave some sort of drinks typically anyway. The people at the front desk didn't appear too enthusiastic about anything. The property and rooms were very clean and well kept. Cornhole game and stairs down to chairs by the river in back of the grounds. Quiet areas to take walks. wasn't too busy when we were there. Ribeye dinners at the restaurant were fantastic. There wasn't much information throughout the building about the history. Some photos, artifacts, and decorations but nothing that tells you much about them. Beds were very hard and no pillow top, comforter kept sliding off the bed. A/c worked great. Smoke detector had an annoying flashing light on it. No TV, which I knew ahead of time and didn't really miss it, but just another reason I felt the room was overpriced. The shower water was very hot and actually had to run a while to be cool enough to get in, not sure why, very strange issue. Liked the night light in the bathroom. No place to put luggage except on the floor, no rack or anything. No fridge or microwave, which would have been missed more if staying more than one night. Minimal power outlets, even less than a typical hotel. No complimentary breakfast and the complimentary coffee is a Keurig. I understand the building is old but there are just amenities you expect when paying $350/night that were just not there. Given we were there for a special occasion, I don't regret staying here, but I would likely not return, except maybe just to go to the restaurant. Service: 4

I've no idea about the actual hotel but the outside looks real nice. I'm writing this review to try and help get the word out. The fireworks display is comparable to the Eureka city show. I'd never even heard about Benbow putting on a show before and our family was excited to go somewhere new for fireworks this year. It was chill and quiet (other than the fireworks of course) and you basically get to choose your spot to set up a blanket or whatever at the park across the way. I'm glad I went and I'll be going back as long as they do it. Hell yeah!! Service: 5

Absolutely exceptional stay here! My wife & I couldn’t be happier with the service from the team here at Benbow Historic Inn. Down to earth people where you’re greeted with a smile and a kind greeting. 11/10, when we travel America again for the redwoods, we will definitely be staying here for a 2nd time. Thank you!
