I loved that place,the food the drinks and the decor. So sorry it closed. Use to go there with my Dad after his Dr visit. Why did it close

Came here for a work party and we were in the private room in the back area where 30-40 people were comfortably seated. The service was good. Now for the food: the bread and garlic oil were delicious. The Cesar Salad was excellent. There were 3 choices of entrees: Chicken Marsala- okay, eggplant Parmesan- okay, and penne pasta with sausage and mushrooms- okay. Nothing hit home. I have had much better Italian food elsewhere. The dessert was disappointing- it was a chocolate soufflé that lacked any sweetness. It should have been served with ice cream. Instead it was served with whip cream that just made it taste more bland. This was the general consensus of all the items served at our table of 9 people. Probably would not come again. Maybe their food is better if not serving 30-40 people.

This place really disappointed me with its fancy look and expensive prices. The food was terrible. The Bistro of Santa Monica needs a new Chef for sure. The food was so salty and nothing tastes fresh. Our potatoes tasted like fish as if they were on someone else's fish plate. Ugh. The waiters were nice but both of them really needed to wash their hair. The live music pianist played awful and banged on the piano being anything but relaxing. This place was a real fail. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone sorry. Honestly if I had to replace anyone I'd replace the chef. I'd consider going back if they had a new chef. Sorry I don't mean to hurt anyone just being honest. This place could be better with changes.
