The Eritrean restaurant here sadly closed during pandemic. It’s now a kebab shop using the same name - listing should reflect this as it’s a different business

If there was an option to give a negative star I would. I love Eritrean cuisine and have been to many Eritrean restaurants in London and around the world. I will have to say that Blue Nile's take is below standard - it is very bland, the presentation is poor and quantity is small. However, I still continued to go there as it is the only Eritrean close to where I leave. After my last visit, I will never go there again and I have asked my friends not to either. We have been trying to reserve a table but no one picked up the phone. So we (3 of us) decided to try our luck and showed up. The old waiter showed us a table with 3 chairs. We ordered a meal for 2 people as one of us wasn't very hungry. We were rudely told that they will not give us an empty 3rd plate, which we ok with. The waiter continued his rudeness throughout the service; he would abruptly leave the plates of food next to our elbows without giving us a heads-up. The portion was for 1 person instead for 2. It looked like they scrapped the bottom of the pan and gave us scraps.We didn't complain at this point. When our bowl of injera was over, we wanted to order more along with some sides. The same waiter literally snatched the bowl and walked away without taking our order. Once we managed to get his attention again and placed our order, he flatly informed us that it would cost us more. Did he think we have never been to a restaurant or were poor! When asked why he kept bringing up cost/ number of plates, he said "This table is for 4 and not 3". I am not sure how that relates to our order. Besides, he decided to seat us. Are we supposed to be picking up random strangers from the streets so that the table is full!! Also, in my dining experience, restaurants always seat 3 people in a 4 seater table. I should have asked for a reduction in bill but given the waiter's attitude, I am sure he would have caused a scene. We had compromised on the sub par food for 1+ year but now with the exceptionally rude and unprofessional service, I will never go or recommend this place. It is better to make the effort to go somewhere else where they want to create a good dining experience for their customers.
