First visit to La Toxica and very happy with the overall experience. First of all, the decoration of this location is particularly well done, with traditional Mexican accents, beautiful colorful murals and lots of little details that make the whole greater than the sum of the parts. We even decorated the toilet and it’s spectacular. Frank, friendly and honest service like this beautiful Mexican community . For this first one, I tried the campechano and the birria. The prices seem higher than elsewhere but notice the portion in my photos - also larger than elsewhere so the price/quantity ratio is respected with prices varying between $5 and $6 per taco. I didn't like the campechano, the meat was dry and hard to chew, but well seasoned nonetheless, Taco Victor makes a better campechano in my humble opinion. On the other hand, the Birria is absolutely fantastic: the meat is juicy and tasty, and the cheese is authentic Mexican. Add a real good cooking juice as a dip and it's possibly the best in Montreal - we recommend it. In the end, we will definitely return to this beautiful restaurant (be careful, there are 2 Toxicas on St-Hubert, this one is the furthest north) but we will try something other than the Campechano. It is a 5 star restaurant for food, service and atmosphere.
