Disappointing experience at Café Breizh We booked a table at Café Breizh three months in advance, specifically because we were really looking forward to trying the Chateaubriand. Unfortunately, the experience was disappointing from the moment we arrived. We were greeted by a waiter who seemed very unenthusiastic and, after we had placed our order, we were then told that the Chateaubriand wasn’t available. We were offered a slightly poorer alternative, which was obviously frustrating given that this was the dish we had specifically booked and had been looking forward to trying for months. We completely understand that restaurants can run out of things — these things happen — but it was the way the situation was handled that really disappointed us. The waiter’s service was poor, and the person running the bar also didn’t appear to have the authority to do anything to resolve the situation. There was no real apology, no attempt to offer anything as a gesture of goodwill and no effort to turn the situation around. In the end, we simply walked out. We left without having anything and, unfortunately, totally disappointed. When you have made a booking three months in advance and are genuinely looking forward to an evening, you expect a certain level of service, particularly when something goes wrong. Even a small gesture or someone taking ownership of the situation would have made a huge difference. Sadly, what should have been a lovely evening turned into a very disappointing experience, and it was ultimately the lack of customer service and the way the situation was handled that made us decide to leave. Hopefully Café Breizh can take this feedback on board, because sometimes it’s not the problem itself — it’s how you deal with the problem that determines whether a customer leaves happy or disappointed. That was by far the best meal out in a long time! Excellent food, beautifully prepared. The table service and the timings were perfect. Very friendly. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Meal type: Lunch Price per person: £30–40

The food was faultless. Great cookery where there’s bags of flavour and perfectly balanced seasoning. Decent portions too. Good service with the perfect level of attention but not interrupted every five minutes. Honestly these folks know how to cook. Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Price per person: £30–40
