I was actually planning to go to Bartels Restaurant, but ended up at Butler because they’re right next to each other and I didn’t realize at first. When I walked in, the place was very busy and mostly full of locals, which honestly gave me good expectations. I was handed the lunch and dinner menu, but there weren’t many options. The staff also didn’t really give me enough time to decide before coming back quickly to take my order, so I just ordered a Caesar salad, matcha latte with almond milk, and mineral water. A few minutes later, another customer came in and was given the breakfast menu. I was surprised because I didn’t even know breakfast was still available. When I asked the staff, he apologized for not giving me the breakfast menu earlier. What disappointed me the most was the food and drinks themselves. The Caesar salad was basically just lettuce, cheese, and a few thin bread slices/croutons. For the price, it honestly felt very underwhelming. The matcha latte was even worse. From the color and texture alone, you could already tell it wasn’t high-quality matcha. The taste was extremely bitter and unpleasant, honestly one of the worst matchas I’ve ever had. I ordered it with almond milk expecting a smoother and creamier taste, but it still tasted almost medicinal, very bitter, and had no creamy texture at all. I was actually planning to order more food, but after trying the salad and matcha, I felt so disappointed that I decided to leave. Honestly, if a restaurant can’t even do simple menu items like Caesar salad and matcha properly, I didn’t feel confident enough to even try their main dishes. What surprised me the most was how expensive everything was for the quality. Paying around $10 just for a very basic lettuce salad felt extremely overpriced. Unfortunately, the overall experience did not match the price point at all. I honestly don’t understand why the place was so crowded. Maybe it just wasn’t for me, but if you’re a western tourist looking for good food, I personally wouldn’t recommend it. There are plenty of better options around the area, even the restaurant next door was much better. Meal type: Brunch

Butler, located at the front of Market Place Thonglor, is a modern café–restaurant with a warm yet stylish vibe. It works well for light work sessions or a relaxed American‑style meal. Their American breakfast is simple but good — perfectly cooked eggs, nicely crisp bacon, and buttery toast. It’s an easy, comforting plate with solid quality.
