Bored with the same old sandwiches from places like Costa & Starbucks, I decided to venture to Swansea's Picton Arcade to try something different at lunchtime. I'd forgotten what a foodie mecca it is, especially if you're looking to spend your money at smaller, independent businesses. I settled on Cafe del Mar & was immediately welcomed & made to feel at home. Once cosy & settled in a window seat, I order the pasta with chicken & chorizo in a tomato sauce. I was astounded at the portion size when it came to my table - almost twice as much as I'd normally eat at lunchtime, & all for around £5! Amazing value! It tasted great too! Proper comfort food on a chilly Autumn day. I overheard the chef telling a fellow customer about how he'd been busy preparing cakes that morning & felt assured that this is a place that takes great pride in the qulaity of its homemade dishes. The entire time I was there, the waitress interacted in a relaxed & friendly manner with everyone, making me feel like I was sitting happily in her home rather than a business. Top marks for hospitality & taste. No more chain coffee shops at lunchtime for me!
