For years, the bishopric was at the heart of the city's pulsations. For many, especially the student population near the city gymnasium, a starting point for a social life. It was the meeting point of the social fabric that makes up the neighborhood - and more generally - the entire city center of Lausanne. Today it is the back room of a company cafeteria. The converging point is tourists who only know a place through the complacent advice of travel guides. It's to cry. The cuisine has become mediocre, the service non-existent, the atmosphere is plastic, but the managers who organize their company evenings there ensure that the bad white wine flows freely to mitigate any critical thinking. It's bad, it's bad, it's sad enough, it's depressing. P.S.: for those who believe and say that it is the best fondue in Lausanne: you do not know what a good fondue is... Maybe I'm just not a fondue fan at all, but even if I were I'm not sure I would love Restaurant de l'Eveche on account of a very limited menu, uncertain execution, and frankly, the overpowering smell that I'm sure comes with all fondue restaurants. Star 1: How were the service and atmosphere? The service at Restaurant de l'Eveché was fine - the orders came out quickly, and everyone was very friendly. Having said that, the smell in Restaurant de l'Eveche is pretty overpowering, and it doesn't go away even if you're there for quite some time. Star. Star 2: How were the portions relative to the cost? Restaurant de l'Eveche is expensive. Full stop. We had tiny little side salads, some bread, and a pot of cheese and it ran a staggering 36,00 CHF. Maybe that's normal for high end fondue, but it seemed unreasonable. No Star. Stars 3 and 4: How was the food? I was honestly just not a fan of any of this. The salad and bread were standard, and both types of cheese just weren't doing it for me full stop. No Stars. Star 5: Would you be excited to go back? Again, maybe I'm just not a fondue guy, but I've been to other spots that mix it up enough to hold my interest. Restaurant de l'Eveche didn't. No Star.
