This spot has been around in Paterson for a couple years now. I remember when it was still located on North 8th Street. As a Black woman walking into an Afro Latino restaurant, my experience honestly felt disappointing and unwelcoming. The customer service was poor. I was largely ignored, and unfortunately it reminded me of experiences I’ve had at some Dominican restaurants where non Hispanic patrons don’t always seem to receive the same level of attentiveness. I placed a pickup order through Uber Eats and even after 30 minutes, my food still wasn’t prepared. It’s difficult not to question whether certain orders are being prioritized over others. I ordered the chicken club with fries and a hot chocolate. The total came to about $30, which I personally didn’t mind paying if the experience matched the price point. The chicken club was a 7/10. It tasted good, but the portion was smaller than expected. The fries were listed as “seasoned fries” on the menu, but they actually weren’t seasoned at all, so I’d give them a 6/10. Their signature hot chocolate was definitely the highlight for me and earned an 8/10. I will say the restaurant was very clean and I appreciated that parking was available. Overall, despite some positives, I won’t be returning simply because I value going where I feel respected and welcomed as a customer. Good food, the immense amount of options is what really makes it stand out. service was attentive and friendly, I felt like they were happy to have me there rather than that “annoyed” or “rushed” look you might get at other places. The music is spot on merengue and salsa that keeps you joyful. The little tray they bring the coffee on is my favorite, if you understand Latin culture you know the mini radio , rooster, and mini grater (a musical instrument for us ) are staples and the mini versions just make you smile Lots of little cozy corners that are perfect depending on your preference. Some in the vibe where you can see what’s going on and observe the decor and ambiance and some tables in a private corner full of warmth and sunlight from the windows. If it helps anyone they also have baby changing foldout table in the restroom. Valio La pena Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I had an amazing experience at Cafecito Restaurant. This place really delivers comfort food with serious flavor. The Cremoso Caffè was the star of the drink game. Super smooth, rich, and perfectly balanced — creamy without being too heavy and with just the right coffee kick. It tasted fresh, not bitter, and felt like one of those drinks you sip slowly just to enjoy every swallow. Definitely not your average cup of coffee. Now the 3 Golpes empanadas These were next level. The pastry was golden and crispy on the outside, soft inside, and not greasy at all. Each bite had that homemade feel, packed with flavor and seasoned just right. Paired with the dipping sauce, it took everything up another notch. You can tell they don’t rush their food — it tastes like it’s made with care. The whole vibe, from the presentation to the flavors, felt warm and authentic. Perfect spot for a relaxed breakfast or coffee break. Highly recommend: Cremoso Caffè 3 Golpes Empanadas I’ll definitely be coming back. Meal type: Breakfast Price per person: $10–20
