I am originally from California, but currently residing in New York. I traveled 16 hours for the Silver Gloves boxing tournament so while here I was looking for authentic Mexican food. There are a lot of options in the area, but I went with Cali KC because of the food options as well as the reviews. It did not disappoint! 13 of us came to eat here yesterday , this is a hole in the wall spot.. (if you know, you know.. the hole in the wall restaurant are the best!) the hospitality was excellent, all of our food was flavorful and fresh.. this absolutely had the authentic flavor of what I got back home! The verde posole came with all the works and was soo flavorful, delicious (do not pass it up!!!) The tortas and quesadillas are huge ! They will most definitely feed 2! Home made tortillas, the rice had lots of flavor , the green salsa was bomb, the aqua Fresca .. don’t even get me started! Every person at our table raved about the food.. in fact It was so good that we ate there again today! Big shout out to the hostess Yureli , she had the best energy! Thank you girl for taking care of us, even how you answered the phone made my day! Customer service is terrible here, I guess every since they moved from gas station the customer service has went down hill. The owner short lady was very rude and not helpful she started it NOT HER FAULT, when asked about remaking the order which was chicken enchiladas with no onions lettuce because I couldn’t have those things per my health I asked her why she didn’t tell me about the lettuce onions she stated that it NOT HER FAULT again if you have a business and a customer state that their order is wrong I would expect them to correct it. Don’t tell them it’s not your fault. It bad that no one speaks English or even understands it, the crew just look at me like they don’t understand what I’m saying. I spent $15 dollars on something that I can’t even enjoy. When did Mexican restaurants start putting lettuce onions on enchiladas the restaurant across the street doesn’t lol El maguey doesn’t Los Compas doesn’t. I will never step foot in this establishment again because of their lack of integrity lack of respect lack of leadership lack of customer service. I go the 25 minutes away from home to get any Mexican food just so I can eat have excellent customer service and the workers and owners give good customer service and good communication.
