Venue itself is nice. Service was slow, especially going for the Yumcha option and hardly anyone in the venue. only 2 ladies working out front (they were nice and friendly) but to only have a 90mins slot we waited some time for our food to arrive. The pancakes that came with the peking duck were defrosted and not heated up, so I had a rubber taste/texture to it. Also, it would be good if they asked if we had any allergies. Ordered the spring rolls which had mushrooms in it (nothing on the menu stating that). The lamb ribs and Prawn Toast were delicious, could eat those the whole 90mins if I could. Overall, my experience was ok, could be much better, but don't think I'll go back. Best to use First Table Reply to owners Comments: 1) if that was one of your best tables which was wobbly that the staff knew, u have a lot work to do. 2) we had a great view of where we were seated so could see how many people were there and it was quiet. 3) common sense to ask people about allergies, every other place asks. 4) those pancakes were definitely NOT steamed, worst we've had. Hi Manoj, Thank you for your time in reviewing the team and the food at Canting. You were greeted by the Manager on duty and you were given one of the best tables in the restaurant. We always pick up from 1pm onwards and the restaurant was busy until 3pm; a corner where you will not notice from where you were seated. The team did their best to accomodate everyone's requests on that day, and we apologise if we missed out on asking the allergies. I had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant during a recent event. The entire event was poorly organized and ran far behind schedule, which made the evening quite frustrating. On top of that, the service was extremely slow and inattentive — I ordered hot tea three separate times, and each time the staff acknowledged the request, but it never arrived even after waiting for over 30 minutes. Overall, the lack of coordination and poor service really ruined the experience. I would not recommend coming here for events, as it seems they struggle to handle them properly. Definitely not worth the time or money. I would also like to clarify a few important points. The event duration and full format were not clearly communicated in advance via email. Had I known it would be a lengthy 2.5-hour structured dinner with speeches and wine pairing focus, I would not have chosen to attend. In addition, the value for money is questionable. Charging $98 per person for five relatively simple courses, excluding beverages, feels overpriced for what was delivered. Service was another concern. One of the servers repeatedly forgot to place orders for tea, despite multiple reminders. This was not a one-off mistake but happened several times, which reflects a lack of attention and basic service standards. Given the current economic climate, customers naturally expect a higher level of service and transparency. It is therefore surprising to experience this level of inconsistency at Canting. So the question remains — is the issue really with the customer, or with how the event was communicated and executed? To clarify, my concern has never been about language or the structure of the event. I fully understand and respect how a set menu or coordinated dinner service works. What I am genuinely dissatisfied with is the basic level of service. We requested hot tea multiple times — at least three — and it was repeatedly forgotten. This is not a minor issue but a fundamental service failure. It raises a simple question: in any restaurant, is it acceptable for a customer to request a basic item several times and still not receive it? Regardless of the event format, ensuring that guests receive what they have ordered is a basic standard. Unfortunately, that standard was not met at Canting. We would like to add a further clarification. We do not agree with the claim that we were being rude, and we would appreciate it if you could point out specifically where this was the case. Throughout the interaction, we remained calm and respectful. In addition, our feedback was directed only to the owner. We did not have any direct communication with the manager, so that statement is not accurate. We kindly ask that your response reflects the actual facts. Our intention in providing feedback was constructive. If you are open to receiving it and making improvements, we sincerely wish your business continued success. If not, we hope you will continue to provide good service to other customers.
