This is a charming little hotel. Converted from what was once a grand residence, my room had a ton of character and impossibly high ceilings. The rooftop is very cool. The location is great, an easy walk to the center square or out to the cathedral. The staff were extremely conscientious and helpful. Breakfast was great. They want me to walk very far from the hotel in most directions out of concern for my safety (I asked because you hear so much about Quito being dangerous), which I appreciated. Service: 5

From check in to well after check out I experienced true hospitality. I spend about 25% of the year away from home and rarely do I feel the way the staff at Carlota made me feel. Being that this property is an old French Style house converted to a hotel with limited number of rooms, they really made me feel like I was a guest in their own home. I work in the hospitality industry and it's not very often I come in contact with people who care the way Miguel Obando and Nathalia Rosario. I also wish to mention the young lady that worked the front desk in the morning, but don't remember her name. Both front desk employees and the young lady that worked in the restaurant for breakfast provided me an experience that I wish all properties could offer. If I ever get the opportunity to return to Quito, I will stay here again mainly because of the staff. The property was beautiful and clean and the location was great, but I cannot emphasize enough how much the workers set a standard for hospitality. Service: 5
