I'm not sure what happened to this place. We came at prime lunch time on a Saturday and there were no cars in the lot, making me think it was closed. That should have been my sign to choose another place. However, we went in and sat down...the only 5 people in the restaurant. We ordered the food and I honestly don't know what to say. The Cuban bread was some weird kind of hoagie garlic bread, not pan cubano as we were expecting. The stuffed potato balls were covered in a cinnamon sugar, which again, was completely unexpected for a savory dish. One person got their entree and it just looked sad. 10 minutes later (after the first person had nearly finished their plate) the next plate came out, and pretty much continued that way every ten minutes. I might understand that if it were a packed house, but we were the ONLY people there for the hour and a half we sat. The food was just awful. The steaks were tough and chewy despite us ordering them med rare, the trifongo was just awkward, and overall just not great. Especially for the price. I was so excited to bring my family here because we loved this place in the past!! But something definitely changed and even the menu was completely different. No clue what happened but we will absolutely never return. And it's a shame too since we have so few Cuban places in the Raleigh area. Now we have one less in my book. The food here is amazing, hands down the best. From the beef empanadas to the steak with rice and beans, everything we ordered was full of flavor. The atmosphere is very cultural. Just come open-minded and ready to enjoy it for what it is. The staff is also extremely welcoming and kind. But truly, the food speaks for itself! Meal type: Dinner Food: 5 Service: 5

My husband was craving croquetas, he took a drive to Casa Cubana, he should have left when he saw no one inside at 2o'clock in afternoon assuming they were open for lunch. The guy there told him they had them and the cost "about 8 bucks" for an order of 4. When he got his order, totalled $9.02 but he was annoyed to accept cash payment because the register wasn't open so he just gave him $10 Cash and left with his order that was wrapped and sealed. When he opened it to eat them at home, he found them to be TOTALLY BURNT INSIDE AND OUT, like a charcoal briquete!!! They were supposed to be ham/potatoes. Shame on them for selling this as it was TRASH, right where it went!! He accepted it as a loss and promised NEVER TO RETURN there but I felt strongly enough to share this experience with review readers. Maybe it wasn't a large order but the experience was enough to be turned off, not showing respect for one person by serving him as they were. There are many other choices of places to eat hopefully this will help others decisions to avoid this one. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
