About 10 years ago, I wrote an article for my local radio station about testing that found Roundup-related residues in many California wines. Ever since, we’ve been on a journey to find wines made with fewer chemicals and, whenever possible, right here in California. This weekend we discovered Castoro Cellars in Paso Robles, and it’s everything I love about California wine. They have an impressive range, from crisp whites to bold reds, and everything we tasted was excellent. More importantly to me, Castoro’s commitment to sustainable winemaking really stands out, with SIP Certified vineyards, organic farming, and biodynamic practices. Great California wine made with real attention to how the grapes are grown. Castoro Cellars was an exciting find, and even though it’s a 4 hour drive, we’ll definitely be back.

Went with my girlfriend for our first ever wine tasting! This was such a beautiful location too, and incredibly affordable. Our host was Jared — he was the absolute best, so informative (and hilarious!). An amazing first experience

Castoro Cellars is a family-owned winery specializing in estate-grown, organic certified wines. A lively setting for wine tastings, with a Mediterranean-style tasting room featuring charcuterie snacks, a sprawling 18-hole disc golf course, year-round live music, yoga brunch classes, and host the annual Whale Rock Music & Arts Festival. Great location for larger groups with ample seating and parking.
