This is gonna be long but feel I have to catch everything to convey how wonderful this place is. We had one night in Lyon and I spent months trying to choose a restaurant (way too many good ones to choose from). I am not a bouchon food fan and didnt want to spend beaucoup $$ on a michelin star. What a incredibly lucky find to stumble across Catarsis. As soon as I saw it I knew it was the one. there are only 7 tables so def make a reservation. When will you ever have another opportunity to have A 7 course based on "dessert"? Prob never. Dont be fooled this is still dinner. I jokingly told my husband this is not the place you will leave stuffed but boy was I wrong. I could barely eat another bite after the 5th. Each dish is so thoughtfully prepared, with a unique ingredients making a sweet and savory combo. My favorite was a chicken and caramel combo. OMG!!! The presentation is stunning and with finesse and each course comes out in a unique bowl. you can tell and feel the chefs love of her art. We didnt find out until the end that the chef was out with an injured shoulder and the guest chef was a 19yr old culinary student. WHAT??? These dishes looked and tased like a professional had been doing this for decades. KUDOS to her. the gentleman who was serving went above and beyond to make the experience perfect, so friendly, professional, funny, and did his best to explain everything in English. This experience will be one I will be talking about for months/years. You must try Catarsis when in Lyon for a truly unique culinary experience. And the cocktails (designed by the server) were amazing! I had a mezcal, almond syrup and cinnamon. Thank you Catarsis for bringing a truly different and unique culinary experience and for bringing your love of pastry/desserts to a dinner experience. I wish you the most success.
