Mother's Day was supposed to be a special occasion to celebrate the matriarch of our family, but it turned into a culinary disaster. We arrived at the restaurant with high hopes, eager to enjoy a delightful meal together. However, our expectations were quickly dashed as we were left waiting for over 30 minutes past our reservation time. When we were finally seated, we were greeted with lukewarm tea and a long wait for our sandwiches. After an agonizing 20 minutes, our food arrived, but it was far from satisfactory. The sandwiches were bland and lacked any discernible flavor, while the scones were hard and dry, resembling stale bread more than the delicate pastries they were supposed to be. The service was equally disappointing. The waiters seemed overwhelmed and rushed, their faces glistening with sweat as they frantically tried to keep up with the demand. The kitchen, visible from our table, appeared chaotic and unsanitary, with food debris scattered on the floor and dirty dishes piling up in the sink. As we sat there, our Mother's Day celebration slowly turned into a nightmare. The food was inedible, the service was abysmal, and the atmosphere was anything but festive. It was a day that was meant to honor our mother, but instead, it became a testament to the importance of setting realistic expectations and avoiding culinary disasters.

One of the cheapest places in town to get a high tea service. Only $30 is a heck of a price when most tea rooms will charge $60 or more. Located right in Little Tokyo next to the Japanese American National Museum. With many places to walk around before or after your tea service. The service here was lovely. Clean tables, clean linens and floral tea sets that were on the tables and lining the walls as well. The group I was with scheduled a reservation but I mistakenly arrived at the wrong location. Their team was very accommodating which I am thankful for. I was excited that on their menu they offered top shelf options such as Monkey Picked Oolong and Golden Monkey. Seeing those teas, I eagerly order a pot of each and was delighted by the quality. Sandwiches were tasty and offered vegetarian substitutions. I also appreciated that the scones were warmed before being served, a very nice touch. The dessert tier of our service consisted of strawberries, short bread, and macarons. All-in-all, a great deal when it comes to High Tea for the price. They also offer other lunch options, teaware, and loose tea to take home. So if you take a liking to a particular flavor, no need to worry! They have the tea and equipment for you to enjoy it at home too.

Alberto and the whole team at Chado Tea Room were all very helpful during our friend's bridal shower. They were able to accommodate a large party crowd that took up all the indoor dining spaces, prepare staggered orders, and on top of that, clean up quickly after the guests leave. ON TOP OF THAT!!! The staff members continued to work gracefully during high summer temperatures while managing everyone's needs in our party AND the walk-in guests that were seated outside. Bravo to them!! It helps to prep in advanced if you want to reserve for a large party (we had about 32 altogether, so we took up all of the indoor dining space). Communication is key, and be mindful of parking in the area. Since we planned a casual bridal shower for about 4-5 hours here, this was the perfect fit for the bride-to-be and everyone who participated.
