We stayed as a family of four this weekend and found the chequers Inn Hotel a lovely place to stay. Chequers Inn is also a pub, the building dates back to the 1400’s and is very rustic looking, warm and inviting. Fabio the owner was very friendly, he has recently taken over the family business from his father and is working hard at improving both the pub and hotel, this is a work in progress and is looking promising. His sister Steph was also very friendly and informative about the local area. The room was basic but very clean and perfect for somewhere to get your head down. There was a TV and hairdryer in the room and toiletries in the bathroom. They don’t serve food but there are plenty of restaurants or takeaway options locally and Fabio is happy for you to eat them in the pub. The locals were all really friendly, in just 2 nights we felt like we’d known them years! We will definitely return. Service: 5

A wonderful stay in a deeply charming place. Fabio is an extremely friendly and attentive host, and the pub is as good as they come, perfect for a cozy quiet pint by the fireplace or for wonderfully lively, spontaneous good company. The place is under renovations and promises to be even more excellent very soon -- looking forward to returning! For the moment, it's a treat to see how the historic character is so lovingly being preserved and uplifted. A real gem!

Just spent a beautiful evening at the chequers with the lovely Fabio. Had the most amazing wine, service and interesting conversations. love his visions and passion for the place Can't wait to come back and see the evolution of his visions Service: 5
