Sad to see this place go. It was amazingly beautiful inside. There were many large windows that let in soft warm light during the day. The service was amazing. My boyfriend and I went in with no reservations and were still seated immediately (this was also during a brunch weekend, so all the more reason to be amazed with not having to wait). They also had paper lining the table for 2 reasons: 1) so customers wouldn't dirty the bare tables and 2) so children can draw on them! We decided to give it a shot and ask for a pack of crayons, and the hostess complied! Our food did take a while for it to come, but it was no problem because we were passing time by doodling and ordering drinks. The peach Bellini didn't come in a flute glass like I thought it would. It came in a large wine glass! When our food finally arrived, I couldn't stop looking at it. It was just plated so nicely. My burger was alright. It wasn't the best, but it definitely wasn't bad. The one thing I loved the most were the home fries It was a great date spot. Hopefully they make a comeback!

Came here for dinner, on the late side, one night. It was very quiet, which can always affect the experience, service, etc... The ambiance is great, of course. I had the Steak Frites and it was good. My friend got the chicken and loved it. The wine list was underwhelming. I am a big fan of Keith McNally restaurants but this one was just, eh for me. Also, found it to be strange that on a Saturday night it was dead. I remember when we used to go to Schiller's and Pastis late at night. Couldn't figure out why this place was so quiet.

We stepped in around 2pm for a late brunch and were shown to a corner round table in the back of the main dining room even though the restaurant was three-quarters empty. What looked like a cozy corner ended up being the service dead zone - no water, no menu and not even eye contact until 20 mins in. We ordered the lobster scrambled eggs and a burger. Tasty food but nothing to write home about. Cherche Midi had been on my list of restaurants to try because I love souffles, but no one seemed to be interested in taking our order. Everyone in the surrounding tables got a bread basket except us. It was just the two of us, quietly chatting away, so I wish I could say that our behavior as customers merited this lackadaisical level of service, but I think Cherche Midi just has bad service.
