If I could leave all zeros I would. Potato’s were definitely cooked twice. They were hard to eat. Chicken had no flavor. The restaurant looks as if the health inspector needs to come for a visit. Definitely won’t be back Price per person: $10–20 Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

I stopped by to pick up food for a party. I tried ordering via phone call to pick up but they didn't accept orders ahead of time. The size I needed wasn't on a digital menu. This place was FILTHY, the staff had filthy uniforms on and looked unkept. Standing at the counter looking back into the kitchen, looked like a disaster. I called the hostess and asked if they were sure they wanted food from here. They take your number to spam you but they don't use it to text you when your order is ready. I'm curious to see their health department report card for real. Because, ain't no way. Not only was it dirty, staff seem uninterested, and act like you're bothering them. On May 2, I placed an online order for my mother and my two children. They drove from 7 Mile and Hoover in Detroit to the Chicken Shack location because we’ve consistently known this location for good food and strong customer service. My mother, who is a senior, picked up the order and checked the children’s meals before leaving. Everything looked fine on top, so she assumed her order at the bottom of the bag was also correct, especially given our past positive experiences at this location. Once she arrived home and sat down to eat, she discovered that her “well-done” potatoes were completely burnt—black and inedible. She immediately sent me a photo, and I drove from my home, straight to the store to address the issue. When I arrived, two young ladies at the front were polite and initially willing to help. They even acknowledged that this was not the first time something like this had happened. However, when the cook came from the back, the situation took a completely unacceptable turn. I calmly explained the issue and showed him the photo. His response was dismissive and unprofessional. He told me that since I ordered the potatoes “well done,” that’s how they would come. I explained that I am a frequent customer and have never received burnt food when ordering well done. Instead of correcting the issue respectfully, he continued with a negative attitude. When I asked for a refund, I was told I would need to contact the general manager. At that point, I chose to simply have the food remade. As he walked back to the kitchen, he yelled, “Then don’t order well done again.” That comment—and his overall behavior—was completely out of line. I remained in the store and made it clear that his attitude was unnecessary and that I simply wanted my family’s food prepared correctly. Instead of de-escalating, he continued to be argumentative and dismissive, showing no accountability for serving burnt food. I am extremely disappointed and frankly disgusted by how I was treated. This was not just about the food, it was about the lack of respect, professionalism, and basic customer service. This all occurred in front of other customers, which made the experience even more embarrassing and frustrating. I asked for his name, and no one would provide it. I have recommended this location to others in the past, and I intentionally chose this location over others that were closer to my mother because of the quality we previously experienced. Unfortunately, after this interaction, I will not be returning. This situation was handled poorly from start to finish, and I fully intend to escalate this matter further.
