May 2026 It has been a very long time since I dined at this Chuy's and might be one of the original secondary locations. It felt very old with great character appeal. The bar was cluttered with flair, outdoor patio full of kids and dogs (dog friendly place), and individual dining rooms decorated differently like the downtown location. I ordered one of my usuals, Soft Tacos with Fajita Chicken, and a small frozen margarita with salt. The drink was very refreshing and afterwards tried to order a Topo Chico (in case stocked) but was out and had to substitute like Mineragua or Tehuacán. They gave me club soda out from the bar tap. The chicken tacos were very good and plenty to eat. It was basically build your own tacos and had great flavor. Noticed leaving there was a lot of people waiting when I left but there was seating at the bar so that may be an option for some who do not want to wait for a table. Like I mentioned it is dog friendly and the place is littered with framed photos of dogs. Price per person: $20–30 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

I’ve been coming to Chuy’s for about 14 years, from when I was 13 years old until now, and this was honestly the first time I’ve ever had such a poor experience. The food has always been consistently great, which is why this visit was so disappointing. I was treating a friend to a birthday dinner and using the opportunity to reunite with old high school friends, so I was really looking forward to the evening. Unfortunately, the service made what should have been a special occasion feel like a bust. I don’t blame our server at all—she appeared to be covering an entire section by herself and was clearly doing her best. However, it took a very long time for drinks to arrive after they were ordered, and even longer for my friends’ drinks after they joined me. Multiple items were forgotten throughout the meal, and everything from ordering to receiving drinks and food took much longer than expected. I believe it was close to an hour before our food arrived. I was actually about to ask the front-of-house staff if we could move sections when the food finally came out. My friend had her young daughter with her and needed to get home, and I also had a flight coming up and other commitments, so spending that much time waiting was frustrating and inconvenient. The food was excellent as always, but management needs to do a better job staffing busy shifts. One person should not be expected to run an entire section alone on a Friday night, especially during graduation season when the restaurant knows it will be busy. Whether it’s full service or not, there needs to be at least one additional person helping. The server was clearly overwhelmed, and both the staff and customers suffered because of it. I hope this was an isolated experience, because after more than a decade of dining here, I’ve never encountered service this slow before. Price per person: $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 5

First time trying Chuy’s, and I didn’t even know they started in Austin! I was really pleased with both the pickup experience and the food. Everything was ready quickly, still nice and warm, and the portions were generous. The meal also came with free chips and salsa, which was a great bonus, especially with their reasonably priced menu. I got the famous steak burrito. I’ll admit I didn’t have super high expectations at first, but it turned out to be really good. While I was waiting for my order, I noticed lots of people leaving with to-go boxes and big smiles on their faces, and the restaurant was pretty busy too. That’s usually a very good sign that people enjoy coming here. Overall, a great first experience. Good food, quick pickup, big portions, and a solid value. I do wish they will roll out mobile app and rewards program so it would be a bit easier and give more incentive to order. Meal type: Dinner Price per person: $10–20 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
