I tried this place even after I read the reviews , which some were terrible ! The odor people complained about was present , but nor overwhelming , so I gave it a go ! Ordered Catfish and they brought our the complimentary cornbread which was good , and then I tried the coleslaw which was the ending of my meal , because on the second bite I pulled a 10 long black hair out of the slaw , which I also bit into which is disgusting., I immediately put the hair on napkin and delivered it to manager , that was my experience Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

I have been wanting to go here for years, but never have - until this past Saturday. Our plan was to go to Bavaria Brewhaus at Opry Mills - have you ever been to Opry Mills on a Saturday afternoon!? Traffic was backed up onto Briley Parkway a mile or so just to get to the parking lot. In-laws went ahead and said it was crazy. Fortunately we were meeting them and got advance notice from them not to enter. I threw out Cock of the Walk. I was the only one that has not been. For three in the afternoon, they were fairly busy. They have this thing about stapling business cards on the walls which is pretty tacky especially as they age. I don't understand the logic. The country celebrity photos were pretty cool, but it doesn't look like there have been any new ones in quite a while. As the menu is very limited, they almost immediately bring you sides of slaw, cornbread and some pretty amazing pickled onions for the whole table to go with fried foods soon to be ordered and delivered. They serve drinks in aluminum mugs and they have the soft drink machine dialed in perfectly. Best Coca-Cola I have ever had. The aluminum mugs coupled with the ice cubes - perfection! Our waitress did the best she could. It's a big restaurant and the kitchen must be on the other side because she was gone for extended periods of time. Wife and I shared the four piece fish & fries. We also order a pan of beans and a pan of greens. Beans are heavily peppered, but good enough. The greens were another story. SO SMOKY. When she sat them on the table, I thought maybe she was a heavy smoker, but it was the greens. Awful. We swapped them for more beans. Fish was good enough. Typical frozen fries got cold really quickly - thinking they stayed under the lights a little long. That, coupled with the fact there was no ketchup on the table so I had to wait for her to bring that as well as tartar sauce. That should have come out with the order. Father-in-law got the ribeye, mid-rare. It was tough and fatty but had good flavor. Their dog was happy that night. Because of the sides, I was only able to eat one piece of the fish as they are fairly large fillets - wife the same. We had to-go boxes and of course we could not eat the extra pan of beans they substituted for the greens, so got that to go, too. Slaw - good Beans - OK Fish - good Hushpuppies - good Fries - mediocre frozen cold Turnip greens - just awful Pickled onions - amazing Soft Drink - highlight of the evening - sad, but true Steak - good, but tough Side Salad - meh - standard fare Doubt we will ever return. One and done.
