WHAT’S GONE WRONG I looked into it and it turns out Coffee No1 is a prime example of ‘SKIMPlification’. This means corporate dictates they go as cheap as possible on ingredients, ripping off the customer as much as they can get away with, to maximise profits to please shareholders. OUR EXPERIENCE We’ve been going for years and it used to be generally quite good. For the past 6 months or so, everything we’ve had as far as food clearly tastes like it was made by someone pinching pennies like their life depended on it. Sandwiches today were 80% a horrible hard dry bread. Listed as BBQ pulled pork, there was a laughably tiny amount actually in it. It was mostly filled with plain, raw red cabbage. That sounds like a joke but it’s not. The triple chocolate cake was also unpleasantly dry and crumbly. No distinguishable flavour but flour and baking soda, like they left out almost all the butter, eggs, cream, and cocoa. The dryness and staleness makes it seem like everything was left from the day before. It just keeps getting worse so we’ve finally taken the hint and won’t be back. The one upside is that the staff are professional and pleasant. It’s not their fault the food is so grim, and the coffee is just okay. AVOID, unless you like truly cheap, awful food, being played for a mug, and being ripped off. Photo to show the lack of filling in the ‘BBQ pork’.
