Wonderful place if you like walking around to small locally owned shops. We love it there. Sad that the pizza place moved. It was the place we always looked forward to eating while at Smithville. Sit on the dock and enjoy a slice. No more.... Talking to local shop owners they all miss it ,too.

You can't beat Smithville's historic charm. I've been coming here since I was a child and every time it feels like stepping back into my warm family memories. All of the shops sell adorable and beautiful things; food, bakeries, and pup treat specialties. The Irish store is always my favorite! Great for families, dogs, and friends. D

Historic Smithville Barn lodging was on point. Our family wanted to try something different this year to celebrate Christmas, and Historic Smithville was on our list. The charming village truly resembles a Hallmark movie and did not fall short of that expectation. Staying at the Barn felt safe and cozy. The only drawback was the lack of activities on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. All shops and eateries closed by 3 PM on Christmas Eve, and nothing was open on Christmas Day, so planning ahead is important. The Wi-Fi worked well, there was plenty of parking, and security cameras were discreetly placed throughout the exterior areas, which added to the sense of safety. The bathroom tub didn’t drain very well, but it didn’t spoil our family fun. One suggestion for improvement: it would be very helpful if the establishment provided a plan view or map with room numbers clearly marked, so guests could see which rooms they are booking. We wanted to reserve a room with a front porch but couldn’t determine which room numbers corresponded to those rooms. Other reviewers mentioned breakfast—yes, it’s provided, but the selection is limited to muffins or croissants. Overall, it was a memorable and cozy experience for our family, especially if you’re looking for a peaceful and picturesque getaway.
