Commis Collingwood $28 Steak Night – Steak, Roasted Carrots & Potatoes + Complimentary Popcorn First up, they give you complimentary chicken salt popcorn, which was super salty but also super tasty. Random little touch, but genuinely made the experience better. The steak quality itself was nothing special—pretty standard steak night quality and nothing that gave me a wow moment. Where Commis did better was the overall plate. Having the steak with the sauce, roasted potatoes and carrots made it feel more like a refined home-cooked meal rather than your standard steak, chips and salad deal. Getting a bit of everything into one mouthful was where the dish worked best for me. For $28, I thought the total package was really good value and something a little different from the other steak nights around Melbourne. The steak alone wouldn’t bring me back, but everything together made me a happy chappy. Service was good with really nice and friendly staff as well. Price per person: $20–40 Food: 4 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

This place is to die for. The owner is so incredibly amazing, his customer service is unmatched. I don’t know what Michelin starred chef they hired, but every item on the menu is mouthwateringly delicious. My recommendation? The bread with sexy butter, the rum babka, and the apricot brandy to wash it down. Price per person: $40–60 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5

If I could give six stars, I would! It’s one of those places where, from the moment you walk in, you know you’ll be well looked after. Everything was perfectly orchestrated, the customer service was top-notch, every single dish was absolutely beautiful, and the dry martini was to die for! Not to mention the babka with rum! Do yourself a favour and stop by for the chance to experience an amazing evening in a beautiful, cosy restaurant with a great vibe and music. You won’t be disappointed. Price per person: $60–80 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
