Came here with my partner for a nice meal and a few drinks after seeing the place all over social media. Unfortunately, the whole experience was an absolute shambles from start to finish. We placed our order, and the bloke at the till was arrogant from the get-go. I tapped my card without really looking at the total, and once we’d found a table outside, I checked my phone and realised I’d been charged over £50 for what should have been a pint of beer, a shandy, fish & chips and a burger. He then came outside with our drinks and said, “You normally wait for your drinks here, mate,” before putting them down. He’d brought my partner a glass of wine instead of a shandy. When I questioned it, he insisted that was what I’d ordered. I challenged him on it and then realised the wine was also why the bill had been so expensive. He eventually went back and got the correct drink and told us to keep the wine as well. A young lad then brought our food out, and the order was completely wrong. To top it off, when my partner went to eat, there weren’t even any knives or forks available outside. At this point, I’d had enough and went back inside. A lady with black hair dealt with me, apologised and refunded me. She then asked what we had originally ordered and told me to wait five minutes and she’d have the correct food brought out. I was actually happy with how she’d handled the situation and thought it had finally been resolved. Five minutes became 10, then 20, and eventually half an hour. I went back inside to ask where our food was, and she pulled me to the side and told me that because she’d refunded me for the food, she hadn’t actually told the chef to remake our order. So we’d been sitting outside for half an hour waiting for food that nobody was even making. At that point, I asked her to refund the drinks as well, but she refused because we’d already drunk them. We packed up and left. An absolute shit show of an experience from start to finish. Mistakes happen, and I can understand an order being wrong, but the attitude, lack of communication and complete disorganisation made the whole experience far worse than it needed to be. This place seriously needs to take a look at its customer service and how it handles things when they go wrong. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1 Price per person: £40–50

Food was absolutely shocking. The worst roast dinner I’ve had in years by far the meat was tough cold and cheap can’t even call it meat the vegetables was not cooked they then re-cooked our meals. It was exactly the same. Also the fish and chips were shocking. The whole thing was batter would never return. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1

I have often driven by the Compasses Inn and it's lovely flower filled garden. Decided to stop for a drink last Friday with my wife around midday. Unfortunately this will be our first and last visit. The drink prices are ridiculously high (even by Surrey standards) eg £14 for an Apperol spritzer, with one service person run off their feet handling the bar and serving food. This pub could be so much better. Service: 2
