This morning I get ready in the way that I have been since summer began, pulling on a light blazer and trussing my hair up in a tight knot for the forty minute walk to work, only to open the front door and feel a very obvious chill in the air. Nope. No. In defiance (and also because I am already quite late), I march outside all the same, plugging my ears full of Mewzic Monsters Champ and begin the brisk journey to work. It takes a full 7 minutes to acknowledge the creeping feeling of regret and to miss my coat, my gloves, and my scarf. Summer might be all but over, but the last vestiges of this fleeting season can be celebrated (and mourned) at the Summer in The City afternoon tea at Conrad London St. James Hotel.

In dire need to shake up the Baker Street lunch routine, I headed over to Marylebone High Street today. Conran is a quirky shop with designer knick knacks, beautiful crafts, art supplies, games, and lots more. I didn't buy anything in the shop, but it seems like a great place to buy a fun gift for someone. Mental note to return: check. Conran Kitchen is located inside the store, in the back. There's a small seating area featuring the same funky design and high-end furniture as the store. The menu is small but efficient, with coffee and tea and 4 or 5 salads or sandwiches to choose from. I had a beetroot and goat cheese salad and an iced americano (10 GBP all in). This place would be perfect for a mid-shopping snack or caffeine break but it's just A-OK as a proper lunch option.

Nice little cafe in the back of the store. Usually not too crowded. Good coffee and salads.
