One person ruins it for just about anybody. Food is ok at best but the service level isn't good. Wonder why they go through so many different employees. The bad person I'm talking about while I was eating lunch there today sitting by the mgr....came up to him and complained about terrible service. Mgr tried to make it up to the 2 people but I saw 1 person as she was walking out and I can tell you she'll never be back. Same with me.

Not a real great crowd to interact with. Bartenders pay a little attention. Food has made me sick two out of three times. Food is also Frozen and not that great even for bar food, which is hard to mess up. Meal type: Other Price per person: $50–60

I’ve driven past Courtyard Oyster Bar & Grill on in Alabaster more times than I can count. To be honest, I always assumed it probably wasn’t the kind of place I’d enjoy, and I never gave it a chance. As it turns out, I couldn’t have been more wrong. What caught my attention this time was their incredible lunch special—a meat, two vegetables, and a drink for just $7.99. At that price, I figured it was worth stopping in, and I’m so glad I did. Walking inside, I noticed a relaxed neighborhood atmosphere with plenty of tables and a faint lingering smell of cigarette smoke, even though no one was smoking while we were there. It definitely has the feel of a local bar, but at lunchtime it was quiet, comfortable, and filled with a nice mix of people enjoying a good meal and friendly conversation. It was much more inviting than I had expected. We were greeted quickly by a genuinely friendly waitress who made us feel welcome from the start. She patiently answered our questions and took great care of us throughout our visit. Before our meal arrived, we were served fresh popcorn to snack on, which was a thoughtful little touch that made the wait enjoyable. I ordered the fried catfish with collard greens and fried green tomatoes, and every bite was delicious. The food arrived hot, fresh, and perfectly cooked. The portions absolutely amazed me—they were huge! There was so much food that we ended up taking leftovers home, and we still left completely full and satisfied. They were also happy to bring any condiments we wanted without hesitation. Another thing that impressed me was learning about all the events they host throughout the week, including DJs, open mic nights, and karaoke. It’s nice to see a place that gives the community a reason to come together beyond just great food. Most of all, the entire staff was welcoming, kind, and genuinely appreciative of our visit. They made us feel like regulars even though it was our first time. This experience was a great reminder that you should never judge a book by its cover. Sometimes the places you overlook turn out to be hidden gems. Courtyard Oyster Bar & Grill delivered one of the best lunch values I’ve found in a long time, along with excellent food, generous portions, and friendly service. I’ll definitely be back, and next time I won’t wait so long to stop in.
